4th of July Weekend

I had the most amazing July 4th ever! My friends and I went on a weekend trip to San Antonio and saw the Alamo. Then on Sunday the church had a dinner and softball game. Afterward we went to a friends house for fireworks. Since Texas is so flat you could see the fireworks going off all over the countryside! It was so beautiful driving through the country under the fireworks!
Monday night some of us went to Joe T. Garcia's! It's an amazing Mexican restaurant! Here are the pictures of my adventures:
Me in front of the Texas capitol building in Austin on our way to San Antonio.
We got free breakfast at our hotel El Tropicana. These are some of my new friends.

We decided that these cups looked like the ones on Cinderella. Amanda was looking for Gus Gus.

They had two Toucans in the hotel! You can see one of them in the middle of this picture if you look real close.

Saturday morning while we waited for our other friends to show up we went on the Riverwalk. It's a cement river that goes through the middle of San Antonio. It has shops and restaurants along it. It's very beautiful! This is a bridge over the Riverwalk.

The Riverwalk starts at this mall. This is me on a bridge there.

Me at the Alamo! Unfortunately I couldn't find the basement! ;0)

These pictures are from the 4th of July Softball game. Anna found this toad and named him Steve.

The last two pictures are us at Joe T. Garcia's.

Me, Brittany, and Kristina.

There will be more pictures to come but I have to get them from my friends. Many of the pictures have been on their cameras.
That's all for now! I can't believe I'll be home in two weeks!

Texas!

Howdy from Texas Ya'll!
I'm sorry that I haven't written for awhile. I've been very busy!
I made it to Texas safe and sound! I took a three day road trip across Virgina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas by myself. It was kind of fun!
Below is a picture of the first hotel I stayed at just outside of Knoxville, TN.

Next is the hotel that I stayed at the next night just outside of Little Rock, AR.

My poor baby was so weighed down! She did amazing though! I was so proud!

On my trip I discovered that the compartment in the driver's door was the perfect fit for my cell phone. At first I thought, "It's like it was made for my phone!" Then I thought, "This car's a 1991, it was most definitely not made for my phone!" :0)

I don't have any pictures with people yet but there will be some to come in the future!
The following pictures are ones that I have taken from work.
My favorite part of Texas so far is the sky! It's so big and beautiful!
It makes me happy! :0)
The 3 pictures below were taken from work one morning.

Yesterday I was researching laws in a book of the state laws of Maine from 1822. As I looked through it I found this piece of paper. It said, "...to N. Cogswell D... of Doct. Nathaniel Cogswell... property belonging..." It was found in the real estate section which seems to correspond to the fact that the paper talks about property. I have no idea whether this paper was really connected to Dr. Cogswell but it may be. Here is some info on Dr. Nathaniel Cogswell: "One of John Cogswell's descendents was Nathaniel Cogswell, who studied medicine with Dr. Perkins, one of the celebrities of Boston, and an intimate friend of the philosopher Benjamin Franklin. Dr. N. Cogswell was present when Franklin killed a pigeon with his new electric battery - a circumstance he remembered and related with no small degree of satisfaction."
Appleton's Journal of Literature, Science, and Art (New York: D Appleton and Company, 1872), p. 20.
I was so excited when I found it!

I took the following pictures this afternoon as I left for work.

I have no idea what happened to this picture but it ended up looking pretty cool!

This is the Christian School that is next to work and the beautiful sky!

Another view of the sky.

This is my favorite shot!

Me and the Texas sky!

Barristers' Banquet 2010

This last Friday was Barristers' Banquet again! I can't believe it was almost a year between my blog posts. (I'm sorry!)
We went over to my friend Ivette's house to get ready. I'd like to thank my wonderful friends Margo, Cindy, and Candace for helping transform Ivette and me.
It was a long process! First, Margo straightened my hair.

Then Cindy curled it while Margo did Ivette's make-up and Candace pinned Ivette's hair up.

Margo did my make-up.

We went out to Ivette's front yard to take pictures. It felt like prom! :0)

Ivette and her husband John.

Ivette, Brittney, Me, and Tara at the Banquet. We got there late so we didn't get many pictures with people this year.

Keeping with tradition we went to Ivette's house afterward and took more pictures.

This might look a little familiar if you look about 3 posts back! :0)

Overall, it was a great time!

Easter 2010

I'm sorry I haven't written for so long! Law school has a way of making time fly and taking up all of that rapidly moving time!
These are pictures of my Easter Break in Kentucky. My friend Cindy and I went home with our friend Candace to Versailles, KY (near Lexington).

On Saturday we went to Lexington and ate at the Pub. It's supposed to be an authentic British Pub. (No there was no drinking involved!) They have amazing fish and chips!
This is Cindy and I in front of the Pub.

Carlyn (Candace's sister), Candace, Cindy, and me at lunch.

This was a chair in the entryway of the Pub. I thought it was pretty awesome just sitting there so I had to take a picture. (BTW this is what my new haircut looks when my hair is straight.)

I went to my first Kentucky Horse Race at Keeneland. It was awesome! (No, I didn't bet.) We got to stand up against the rail right at the finish line!
This is us in front of the track.

This is us in front of the grandstands. If you look closely above my head you can see some women with little white parasols.

And they're off!

Here they come down the final stretch!

We spent Sunday at Candace's grandparent's house for Easter. We went to the little church there that her parents grew up in.
Candace said I looked like a mime in my white gloves so I posed for her.

Everyone all dressed up for Easter.

More Easter Dress Pictures

The Easter Bunny (aka Candace's mom) got us all baskets! It was a lot of fun! I was so excited because I got a PedEgg! I've wanted one for a long time!

That's all for Easter Break!
I'll try to keep you posted with more pictures of all of my adventures!
P.S. I'm super excited because I realized today that there is a lilac bush at the back of my house!!! I could smell the lilacs!!!! I love that smell!!!!!
