Hair Day!

On Saturday after watching Huckabee speak, I went out with some friends to Pentagon City. It's a huge shopping center by the Pentagon. When we got home one of the girls wanted to straighten my hair.

Here is the finished product!

I've never gotten my hair so straight before! She has a $125 straightener and she went over each little piece at least four times.

CPAC 2008

What is CPAC you may ask? It stands for Conservative Political Action Conference.
I got to go this weekend as well as help with a booth for Liberty University School of Law. I saw many influential people. Here is the account of my adventures:

This is a picture of Laura Ingram. (Actually it's a picture of the big screen. I was in the back of the room and couldn't get a good picture.) She did the introduction for Mitt Romney.

The following pictures are of Mitt Romney's speech withdrawing from the campaign. It was so surreal. I was surrounded with fans who were cheering and screaming and the atmosphere was ecstatic. Then he said something that sounded like he was going to pull out and I was thinking, "Is he really about to withdraw?" Then, sure enough, he did. All the fans were in complete shock and were dismayed. I'm just excited that I was there to see it! (Not that I necessarily wanted him to drop out but it was an historical moment!)

I wanted to go and see the President on Friday so badly but because of the hurricanes he had to come earlier than expected. He was speaking at 7:15am and that meant that I would have to be there by 5:00am at the latest. I was totally willing to get up but I had no way to get there because the Metro (DC subway) doesn't run that early! :0(

Then, on Saturday I got up early again and went to see the future President speak! (OK, so he might not be the future President but he's an awesome guy and I feel privileged to have seen him speak!)

This is a picture of me and my Huckabee sign. I thought I was going to have to give it back so I was trying to do a sad face but I couldn't help but smile. What came out was a mixture that ended up being this little smirk.

Capitol Tour With David Barton

Through a connection at work I was able to attend a special night tour of the Capitol building by David Barton. It was amazing! How anyone can deny the Christian heritage that we share as Americans is beyond me!

This is the painting that is at the top of the Capitol rotunda. It is of George Washington joining the great cloud of witnesses mentioned in Hebrews.

This is a picture of the Old Senate Chamber. It was so pretty! Too bad the camera didn't capture it!

This is the old Supreme Court Chamber. It was very beautiful as well. I would suggest that you all get some videos by David Barton. Especially his one about the Capitol building. There is so much awesome information that I couldn't begin to tell you here.

This is a little out of order but this is a picture I took of the back of the Supreme Court building on the way to the tour at the Capitol.

I don't have the picture yet but there is one of me and David Barton and a few other people. It was really neat because one of the guys from the program that I am in grew up in the same town as the Bartons and they are old friends. After the tour I got to go with them and see their DC apartment.

The Liberty Center for Law and Policy

These are pictures from my office with the Liberty Center for Law and Policy! That's right! My very own office! Well, actually, I found out this week that I have to share it with someone but on days that he's gone I have it all to myself! I like sharing it with him though. It's kinda lonely when you're in an office by yourself all day.

Night Monument Walk

On the night of the State of the Union address a group of us went for a night walk around the monuments. It was so pretty! I'm sorry the pictures are blurry but my camera does not do too well at night.

When we were almost to the Washington Monument the President's motorcade came by. Here is a picture of it. The President IS in that picture somewhere!!!!!!

American Studies Program or Bust!

On Monday January 21, I moved into my new home! This is a view of the sun setting behind the Capitol building on my first night. It was taken from the roof of our apartment building.

This is the view from our apartment. The buildings in the neighborhood are so adorable! I'm so in love with all of them. These aren't even the best ones. It's one of the neighborhoods you see in the movies and doubt that they exist. Trust me, they exist!

This is our living room. It's the most spacious one in the apartment building. It may end up being party central! ;0)

We are also very blessed because we have the biggest kitchen too! All of the other ones barely have enough room for one and we can fit all five of us at the same time.

This was my desk a few days ago. It looks a lot better now because I have my Oregon flag hanging above it. It will also look better if everyone sends me postcards to fill up the blank spots around it!

Ma and Pa Part II

One of the days we went to the Washington Monument. Here is Ma and Pa in front of it.

It's over 550 feet tall! It had the best elevator in the world! It went that far up in a few seconds and it didn't even feel like we were moving!

Here's me in the observatory at the top of the Washington Monument! That proves it, I was really there!

Here's Ma and Pa up there too. I was so proud of Ma going all the way to the top! But not only that, also getting up to take a look from that high up too!

The next day we went to take a tour of the Capitol building. Unfortunately, we forgot that it was Sunday and that most of the federal places are closed on Sundays. It was so bitter cold that day too! We almost froze, literally!

We walked up Capitol Hill and since we couldn't get in we just circled around and went to see the Supreme Court building!
